Birch-bark is the oldest wood material,
using in art trades.
Birch-bark art is widely represented
by the works out of layer birch-bark (carving, painting,
stamping). Birch-bark weaving is poorly developed
as a kind of applied arts. For the most part
they are objects of folk life -
boxes, purses, saltcellars, breadbaskets.
They don't have any art value, as a rule.
In the works by Lyudmila Savina
we may see variety of forms, fantasy,
high weaving technique and new technical methods.
There are works, made in consideration of folk symbols:
ducks - saltcellars, pullet and cockerel -
candy boxes. The sparrow-shaped candy box is made
in a very unusual way. Decorative vase and box
fit into interior very well. It's pleasant
to keep your decorations in birch-bark small boxes, and
to lay pies into a basket.
