Petrozavodsk and Syktyvkar: New Forms of Cooperation in Education
The Head of the Laboratory of the Problems of the Nordic Countries and Finland Ilya Solomeshch and the Head of the Division of International Project Aleksey Rozogin went on a working trip to Syktyvkar where they visited Komi Republican Academy of Civil Service and Syktyvkar State University n.a. Pitirim Sorokin.
The aim of the visit was to meet the fellow members of the Association of the Finno-Ugric Universities (IFUU), discuss possible forms of cooperation and exchange experience.
Throughout 2017 PetrSU employees involved in the strategic project “Finno-Ugric World” have been developing a network educational module “Innovative Practices of Cooperation between Finno-Ugric Universities of Russia”, which was presented to students, postgraduates, and teachers in Syktyvkar.
The module consists of a series of lectures on ethnology and culture and cover the national identity development, consider the concept of “border”, the image of a neighbor in history and contemporary relations in the North of Europe. The practical part of the module focuses on interuniversity cooperation and academic mobility of students of all specialties and postgraduates.
The lecture of Ilya Solomeshch and Aleksey Rogozin gathered around 100 students, postgraduates, employees, and teachers of the two universities. Those present asked a lot of questions regarding both the general theory and practical applications of international cooperation, namely the experience and opportunities of academic mobility of students in the present context.
