Prospects for Cooperation between PetrSU and the University of Helsinki
The Director of the Institute of Northern European Studies of PetrSU Professor Yurii Kilin and the Director of the Aleksanteri Institute of the University of Helsinki Markku Kangaspuro discussed the development of cooperation between the two research institutes.
The meeting took place in the framework of the international conference held by PetrSU on June 7-8 2018.
The discussion concerned the prospects for cooperation and the need to determine the details of jointly research areas. Among the research areas of mutual interest, Markku Kangaspuro and Yurii Kilin mentioned history, economics, social processes, mass media, civil society, cultural interaction and ethnic relations in Northern Europe and Northwestern Russia. The colleagues expressed mutual desire to develop cooperation in research and teacher exchange.
PetrSU and the University of Helsinki have long been cooperating under the Agreement on Cooperation and exchanging students and teachers. Joint research works, predominantly in the issues of Karelia and Finland, as well as Russian-Finnish relations, have been published in numerous academic papers and implemented within joint projects.
