Representatives of Religious Associations of Karelia Met with Students and Employees of PetrSU
Petrozavodsk State University and the Ministry of National and Regional Policy of the Republic of Karelia held a meeting of the discussion club on the issues of fostering the culture of international and interreligious dialogue.
The meeting with students, teachers and employees of the Flagship University was attended by the First Deputy Minister for National and Regional Policy of Karelia Andrey Manin, leaders of the religious associations of Karelia: priest Evgeny Baryshev, minister of the Alexander Nevsky Cathedral of Petrozavodsk of Petrozavodsk and Karelian eparchy of the Russian Orthodox Church (Moscow patriarchy); Mikhail Tsymliakov, prior of the parish of Holy Mother of Perpetual Help of the Roman Catholic Church in Petrozavodsk; Aleksey Krongolm, pastor of the local religious association of the Evangelical Lutheran parish of the “Holy Ghost” of Petrozavodsk; Yunus Guseinov, leader of the Muslim Spiritual Authority of the Republic of Karelia.
The guests of the university told about events held by the Ministry and the religious associations, forms and methods of community work done by the parishes and churches, charitable works, interaction with state and non-governmental organizations.
The Vice-Rector for Discipline and Social Work of PetrSU Vasily Katarov proposed to consider real cases to which the guests and participants of the discussion club offered their solutions.
The representatives of the university invited the members of the religious associations to take part in events held by PetrSU, seminars, the Debate Club, intellectual games and quizzes.
