Cooperation between the Flagship University of Karelia and Industrial Partners
Future agriculture engineers attended workshops at the leading potato growing farm of the Republic of Karelia.
One of the industrial partners is the Besovetskoye potato growing farm. Future agriculture engineers, students of Petrozavodsk State University, the Flagship University of the Republic of Karelia, were taken on a tour and attended a workshop in modern technology of growing potatoes “From Microplant to Harvest”. The director of the farm Andrey Sosunkevich introduced the students to the modern farm machines used at the farm.
Among the machines are those developed at the Engineering Park of PetrSU under the guidance of the Director of the Engineering Park, Associate Professor Evgeny Tikhonov. Efficient use of modern technologies and new machines and mechanisms allowed the farm to yield up to 50 tons of potato from a hectare, which is approximately twice as much as the average potato yield in Russia. The success was facilitated by the cooperation with the Engineering Park, as well as the courses of the Business Incubator of PetrSU attended by the director of the farm.
