Future Karelian Language Teachers Join the Ethnocultural Educational Space of Karelia

Students of the Institute of Pedagogy and Psychology, studying on the programs "Primary school teacher" and "Teacher of the Karelian language", have begun to study the subject "Introduction to Ethnopedagogy". One of the aims of the course is to introduce and immerse them into the ethnocultural educational space of the Republic of Karelia.

In October two such practical "dives" took place. Freshmen visited the Children's Museum of Local Lore of the Palace of Creativity of Children and Youth of Petrozavodsk.

Svetlana Kryzh, the head of the museum, told about their work and held a master class where the future teachers got acquainted with the methods and techniques of museum pedagogy and ethnopedagogy in practice. Students played Karelian games, solved riddles, interpreted Karelian customs.

During the meeting at the Karelian Educational Development Institute, the students were taken on a tour of the history of the oldest institution for the advanced training of the Republic. This year it celebrated its 80th birthday.

At the Center for Ethnocultural Education of the Institute Natalia Grigorievskaya introduced her future colleagues to the organizational, methodological and educational work of the center, new educational and methodological materials for students and teachers of the Karelian language.

The students received an invitation to a regional ethnocultural conference, preparations for which have already begun.
