Online Lectures of the Teachers of the Institute of Philology
On November 23 Lomonosov Moscow State University hosted another seminar under the project “Eurasian school of commonwealth and collaboration “Sevastopol-Russia-World” with the support of the Presidential Grant Foundation.
The seminar was dedicated to international relations. The event involved scientists, representatives of the Sevastopol Administration and non-governmental organizations.
The teachers of the Institute of Philology read short lectures for the participants of the seminar: Anna Skoropadskaya used the Iliad by Homer to address the contemporary understanding of the word “hero”, while Anna Nilova drew a parallel between the Ancient Greek epos and the Lay of Igor’s Campaign. The foregrounding of classical traditions underlying the European culture and comprehensive study of these traditions in the context of Russian culture are the principal research areas of Petrozavodsk classical philologists. The lectures of Anna Skoropadskaya and Anna Nilova stirred great interest among the audience, while the participants noted the unique combination of traditions and fresh approach to seemingly well-studied issues.
The organizers of the project plan to deepen the research and social connections between Karelia and Sevastopol.
