Teachers of the Department of Baltic and Finnish Philology Took Part in Translation Workshop
On November 21-24 the Fund of Social, Economic and Intellectual Programs with the support of Rospechat and participation of the People’s Friendship and Foreign Literature literary magazines hosted workshops for translators of fiction from the languages of the peoples of the Russian Federation into the Russian language.
The workshops were organized in three language groups: Turkic, Finno-Ugric and Uralic, and North Caucasian languages.
Among the participants of the event were the teachers of the Department of Baltic and Finnish Philology Anastasiya Afanasieva and Tatiana Pashkova. They presented for analysis the translation of V. Brendoev’s short story into the Karelian language.
At the roundtable discussion “Translation of Fiction: issues and solutions” moderated by Aleksandr Livergant, the chief editor of the Foreign Literature magazine, the participants engaged in lively discussion of the issues of translation literature from national languages.
In the framework of the seminar, the participants took part in meet-the-artist events, roundtable discussions, poetry evenings, lectures etc.
The workshops took place at the Bogolyubov Library of Arts in Moscow.
