Artur Parfenchikov Congratulated Irma Mullonen on the Award of the Title of the Merited Scientist of the Russian Federation
The President of Russia Vladimir Putin awarded the title of the Merited Scientist of the Russian Federation to Professor, Doctor of Philological Sciences of PetrSU Irma Mullonen.
Today Professor Mullonen, having returned home, went back to work right away. The Head of Karelia Artur Parfenchikov personally congratulated Irma on the highest merit.
“I, as all citizens of Karelia, am proud. We wish there were more our specialists in all areas who are distinguished with the highest awards. It is all the more pleasant for us since the Baltic and Finnish Philology is our forte. We are happy to have another Merited Scientist,” said Artur Parfenchikov while congratulating Irma Mullonen.
The honorary title Merited Scientist of the Russian Federation was awarded to Irma Mullonen for the distinction in the advancement of science and the many years of diligent work.
Irma Mullonen is the Doctor of Philological Sciences, Professor of the Department of the Finnish Language and Literature of PetrSU, chief research fellow of the Department of Linguistics of the Institute of Language, Literature and History of the Karelian Research Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences. In 1994 Irma Mullonen compiled a three-language Veps-Finnish-Russian list of toponyms. In 2000 she defended the Doctoral thesis on the topic “Toponymics of the Svir Area: issues of enthno-linguial interengagement”.
The meeting took place in the Ethnohouse that opened at PetrSU in April. The Ethnohouse hosts classes in national languages, lectures, and seminars dedicated to folk topics. The Karelian wooden izba was created by the employees and students of PetrSU within the project “Ethnocultural Baltic and Finnish Mosaic” of the Flagship University Development Program for 2017-2021.
