PetrSU Students Make the World Fall in Love with Russia
The 3rd year student of the Institute of Foreign Languages of PetrSU Anastasiya Kuzmicheva returned from the educational expedition of the Russian Language Ambassadors to the World Program, which took place on November 11-23 in the Republic of Bashkortostan.
Over the course of 12 days, the Ambassadors held 100 events at the premises of four schools, as well as at Bashkir State Pedagogical University. Over 1500 schoolchildren and students took part in classes, workshops and training sessions, dedicated to the Russian language, culture, and intercultural communication.
The Russian Language Ambassadors held classes, participated in a communication training session and a workshop on arts and crafts, organized by teachers of BSPU.
Besides that, the volunteers attended a theatrical performance in the Tatar language “My Mother’s White Dress”, as well as a play in the Bashkir language “So Much for the End of the World”. The performances were accompanied with simultaneous interpretation. The excursion program was eventful as well, as the Ambassadors visited an exhibition of final projects at the Republic’s Art Gymnasium Boarding School n.a. K.A. Davletkildeev, and the Nesterov Museum, took tours around BSPU and the city of Ufa.
“This is my second expedition and it is completely different from the first. Last year I went to Armenia and now we visited a region where the Russian language is spoken fluently. Besides, an expedition to a CIS country was the last stage of the selection for the program. This time we held classes for children of grades 2 through 11. This was my first experience of teaching at an art school and a school with inclusive education. I was very nervous.
We have a unique team. Each volunteer is a distinct personality with deep inner world and vast experience. We exchanged materials, knowledge, experience, and tried to spend as much time as we could with each other. I have repeated the phrase “I am in love with Ufa” probably a thousand times during the expedition. Yet now I realize that these words are not just about my relation to the city, but to the people who embraced us with care and kindness,” shared her impressions Anastasiya Kuzmicheva.
Such events help students learn to work in a team, gain teaching practice, learn about the culture of another region or country, find new friends and mentors.
PetrSU has received the status of the Flagship University of the international volunteer program the Russian Language Ambassadors to the World in 2016. Currently, we have 6 Russian Language Ambassadors.
