PetrSU Transferred the AFUU Chairmanship to Yugra State University
Petrozavodsk State University, the Flagship University of the Republic of Karelia, hosted a meeting of the Board of the Association of Finno-Ugric Universities (AFUU) and summed up the three years of the Association’s work.
The participants of the meeting discussed a wide range of issues, the principal of which was the report on the activities of the organization in 2016-2018. In these years the Association was headed by the Rector of PetrSU Anatoly Voronin. Another topic on agenda was the election of the Chairman of the Board of the Association for 2018-2020.
Among the participants were representatives of Mordva, Mari, Udmurtia, Yugra, Syktyvkar State Universities and the Glazov State Pedagogical University.
The board members unanimously assessed the performance in the report time period to be at a high level.
The key question of the meeting was the election of the chairman of the AFUU. Under the Agreement on Cooperation, the chairman of the Association Board is elected by the decision of the board for three years. According to the results of the elections, for the next three years the chairmanship in the AFUU is transferred to Yugra University, while the Rector of the University Tatiana Karminskaya becomes the Chairman of the Association of Finno-Ugric Universities.
The Association of Finno-Ugric Universities is an organization that voluntarily unites universities in the countries and regions populated by the Finno-Ugric peoples, as well as engaged in the Finno-Ugric studies.
The AFUU was established in 2007 with the aim to exchange experience and foster cooperation of universities in the area of improvement of educational, methodological, research, cultural and public activities.
