PetrSU Held a Lecture for Ellinika School Students
Greek pianist and music academician Ioannis Rammos met the teachers and students of the Division of Modern Greek Studies of the Department of Classical Philology, Russian Literature and Journalism, as well as with the students of the Ellinika School (head of the school Irina Redkina).
The guest delivered a lecture in the New Greek language dedicated to the history of Greek music. The Hellenic musical culture is diverse. Mr. Rammos paid particular attention to modern music. The original national genres entertained great popularity in the beginning of the 20th century such as rebetico, laiko, urban original songs that have a lot in common with American blues. The songs were accompanied by bouzouki, a string instrument derived from kithara, and dances.
The lecture turned into a friendly discussion in the New Greek language. Ioannis Rammos appreciated the activities of the Department aimed at the promotion of the culture and language of Greece in Karelia.
