Professor Lev Suni is the Professor Emeritus of the University of Eastern Finland.
The University of Eastern Finland, a long-standing partner of PetrSU in science and education, passed a resolution to bestow the title of Professor Emeritus of the UEF to Doctor of Historical Sciences Professor Lev Suni.
In the rationale, the University of Eastern Finland notes that Prof. Suni is one of the first scholars of the history of Finland in the Soviet Union. At his initiative in 1992 PetrSU opened the Laboratory on the Problems of Scandinavian Countries and Finland and corresponding academic program, and in 2010 it opened the first Russian Master Degree program in the history of the countries of Northern Europe.
Professor Suni managed several research projects involving Finnish and Russian historians and made an immense contribution to the popularization of works by Finnish historians by translating several seminal works into the Russian language.
The official ceremony of promotion of Professors Emeritus of the University of Eastern Finland will take place on June 6-8 2019.
