Elizaveta Spirina Won the 4th Russian Review Contest of Student Course Papers
Elizaveta Spirina, the 5th year student of the Institute of Foreign Languages (program Teacher Education, specialization The English and German Languages) won the second degree diploma for methods of teaching foreign languages at the 4th Russian review contests of course papers. She prepared her course project in the 4th year of studying (research advisor the Associate Professor of the Department of the English Language, Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, Svetlana Guseva). Having completed the contest tests she has become one of the prize-winners.
Altogether the contest featured 126 course papers (projects). The participants represented 24 regions of the Russian Federation, as well as the Republic of Belarus.
The topic of the project is teaching reading techniques in the English language at the beginning of studying the language. The aim of the research was to define problems related to teaching reading techniques and searching for possible solutions to the problems. In her course work, the student has performed a comparative analysis of the level of skills of reading aloud among pupils of the Essoilskaya Secondary General School in Essoila village of the Republic of Karelia and the Academic Lyceum in the city of Petrozavodsk. She has also developed a complex of practical exercises and tasks that she successfully tested during her teaching practice. Currently, Elizaveta Spirina is working on the second stage of the research as a part of her final thesis. The materials of the research are planned to be published.
