PetrSU Took Part in the Conference “Gastronomic Tourism: traveling with flair”
On February 27 students and teachers of the Department of Tourism took part in the kick-off event “Gastronomic Tourism: traveling with flair”.
The organizers of the conference were the Institute of Economics of the Karelian Research Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Karelia University of Applied Sciences (Joensuu, Finland), North Karelia Education Consortium (Joensuu, Finland), Forgis Oy (Joensuu, Finland), OnegoTur (Petrozavodsk), Art-Shater (Petrozavodsk), Ruchei Zhizni (Kondopoga). The Department of Tourism of the Institute of Physical Culture, Sports and Tourism acted as a co-organizer of the event, namely the roundtable discussion “New forms of interaction between educational institutions and business in the development of gastronomic tourism”. The teachers of the Department, Viktoria Plotnikova, Natalia Nikitina, Natalia Kolesnikova, acted as experts. Under the guidance of Valentina Maksimova, the 2nd year student Anastasia Zakharova prepared a project of a new thematic restaurant “Pages of the Stone Book” and presented it at the roundtable.
This project is implemented in the framework of KA4007 project “Kalitka – the development of cross-border gastronomic tourism” supported by the European Union, Finland, and Russia.
The students took particular interest in the reports “Organization of participation of the Republic of Karelia in the Federal Project “Gastronomic Map of Russia”, moderated by Ekaterina Shapovalova, the coordinator of the project.
The teachers of the Department of Tourism held a career orientation event for students and teachers of the College of Technology and Entrepreneurship. Together with the Head of the Department of Service Olga Terentieva and the Head of the Department of Culinary Svetlana Gabukova they discussed admitting graduates of the College to the Department of Tourism of PetrSU to the program “Restaurant Business”.
