PetrSU Student Developed Good-Neighbourly Relations at Savonia University of Applied Sciences
Within the Soft Security strategic project and in cooperation with partners from Finland, Norway, and Sweden, the university participates in the good-neighbourly belt in the European North, determines and implements modern forms of cross-border cooperation. PetrSU and the universities of Finland share the best practices of academic mobility of students and teachers. These days intensive courses and modules enjoy great popularity. For several years Savonia University of Applied Sciences (Finland) has been offering international students the MultiPro free module, and in 2019 our partners allocated FIRST+ grants for PetrSU students. Daria Peron, the 4th year student of Social Work, used this amazing opportunity and for three months became a part of the international team of Savonia students.
The international educational module MultiPro includes theoretical studies and practical training in three areas: social work, natural resources, nursing. This year among the participants of the program were seven students from Austria, Slovenia, and Russia. Daria Peron shared her impressions:
“From January 7 till April 7 I have been taking part in the MultiPro2019 program at Savonia University of Applied Sciences. We studied in a small and very friendly city of Iisalmi. I majored in Social Services. Within the program I had an opportunity to learn about social services in Finland, the educational system in theory and practice, study various methods used by specialists in their work. There also were courses aimed at developing communication skills, skills of working in an international team, Finnish language classes. We went on a tour to Lapland to visit Ded Moroz. In our free time teachers and volunteering students organized for us various events and meetings. As good neighbours students often took us to the sauna, to take an ice plunge, downhill skiing, you name it. This experience is valuable not only in the context of education. This helped me broaden the horizon, become bolder, learn more about myself, find my voice, set new goals, find friends from all over Europe. Kiitos, Suomi!”
We hope that the cooperation will continue in the next academic year. The application deadline for the program is September 30, 2019. You can refer to the Exchange Programs Division of the Academic Mobility Department of PetrSU.
