This year Petrozavodsk joined the TruD test for foreigners for the first time. Petrozavodsk State University became the venue for the event.
The TruD test has been organized for the fourth time coinciding with the Total Dictation. The test was taken in 150 cities of 46 countries on five continents, including Australia, Argentina, DPRK, the USA, France, and Russia. The TruD is designed for everyone who studies Russian as a foreign language.
This is the first year that Petrozavodsk joins the TruD, which allowed everyone studying Russian as a foreign language to join the event together with the whole world. The dictation involved 29 students of the Institute of Philology who study on the Double Degree program, the Institute of Medicine, and the Preparatory Faculty.
The test consisted of 10 engaging tasks of different complexity in the form of an intellectual contest. They were ranged by difficulty according to the levels of proficiency in the Russian language. The maximum number of points was 100.
The last task was to write a small dictation written on the basis of an original text. This year the text was prepared by writer, literary scholar Pavel Basinsky. The participants could take the whole test or just parts of it.
The organizers of the event were the employees of the Department of Russian as a Foreign Langauge of the Institute of Philology Candidate of Philological Sciences, Associate Professor Andrey Kotov, the Candidate of Philological Sciences Natalia Urvantseva, the senior teacher Diana Evdokimova.
The international students wrote by ear an authentic text “Catcher of Souls”. This task was optional due to its difficulty and was graded separately, but all the participants took the task. They could receive grades A, B, C, D, or E.
The TruD test found positive feedback among the international participants. They expressed their wish to come to the university next year and take the tasks in the Russian language.
