International Seminar at the Institute of Forestry, Mining and Construction Sciences

The IFMCS hosted international research and practice seminar “Cross-border Cooperation”.

The event convened 40 people: Master Degree engineering students from PetrSU and two universities of applied sciences of Finland (Kajaani University of Applied Sciences and Centria University of Applied Sciences).

The program of the seminar included studying the demands of Karelian market and opportunities for cooperation between future specialists of the two countries.

The moderator of the seminar on the Russian side was the Associate Professor of the Department of Construction Technology and Management Boris Yagnuyk, on the Finnish side – the teacher of Kajaani University of Applied Sciences Jari Kurtelius.

The participants listened to reports of Vadim Kostyukevich, the Director of the Institute, Aleksey Petrov, the Head of the Department, and Sergey Kilpeliainen, as well as Mikhail Golitsyn, the Deputy Head of the Department of Investment of the Ministry of Economics of the Republic of Karelia who told about the contribution of the Ministry to the development of entrepreneurship in the Republic of Karelia.

On the second day of the seminar, the Finnish participants visited enterprises of Petrozavodsk and learned about their activities. This part of the seminar was moderated by the Associate Professors Yulia Nikonova and Maria Zaitseva.

The event was held within the Flagship University Development Program, and the ENI project “Promoting Cross-Border Wood Construction Business”.
