Ellinika Greek Language School Starts New Academic Year

31 October 2024
In the new academic year, the first classes for beginners and continuing students at Ellinika Greek Language School have been held.

The Humanities Innovation Park of PetrSU has become a place for learning Greek for students from Petrozavodsk (Academic Lyceum, School #55, Derzhavinsky Lyceum, Centre of Education and Creativity “Petrovsky Palace”, Petrozavodsk State University), Moscow (Moscow State University), Yaroslavl and Almaty.

The classes are held in person and online. In the classroom, the lessons are given by 3rd and 4th year students majoring in classical philology — Mariya Zhukova (3rd year), Arina Abramova (3rd year) and Alexandra Kozyreva (4th year). Alexandra Kozyreva completed an internship in Modern Greek language and culture at the University of Athens in summer 2024.

Online classes for beginners are taught by Tata Cheremovskaya, a graduate of the Department of Classical Philology, Russian Literature and Journalism at PetrSU, and now a Master's degree student at the Department of Byzantine Studies and Modern Greek Philology.

The students are gaining teaching experience. They are learning how to make a basic lesson plan and mastering various teaching methods, which will definitely be useful to them during teaching internship at school in their 4th year of university.

Teaching support is provided by Irina Manina, Yelena Kaurova and Yevgeniya Litinskaya, professors of the Department of Classical Philology, Russian Literature and Journalism (Institute of Philology, PetrSU).
