"Priority2030": PetrSU Presented an Updated Development Program
These universities do not receive federal grants and implement their development programs using their own funds and funding attracted from industrial partners, regions, and founders. Based on the results of the defense, each of the candidates will have the opportunity to become a participant in Priority.
The team of the Republic of Karelia presented the updated Development Program of Petrozavodsk State University and the results for 2024 to the commission of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation.
The Karelian delegation includes A.V. Voronin, Rector of PetrSU; A.S. Shtykov, Head of the Department for Innovation and Production Activities of PetrSU, representative of the Foundation for Assistance to Innovations in the Republic of Karelia; Oleg Aleksandrovich Ermolaev, Member of the Government of the Republic of Karelia - Deputy Prime Minister of the Government of the Republic of Karelia for Economic Affairs; Sergey Ivanovich Aryashev, Deputy Director for Microelectronics and Computing Systems of the National Research Center "Kurchatov Institute" - RISR, General Designer; Dmitry Andreevich Krokhmalev, Director of the Department for Interaction with Government Agencies and Regions of OOO "Mashinostroenie", Mechanical Engineering Division of the State Corporation "Rosatom".
“Participation in the "Priority2030" program allows us to respond to new technological and geopolitical challenges by combining the resources and efforts of the university, the Republic of Karelia, and leading partners to solve problems of scientific, technological, and socio-economic development of the region. As a result of the implementation of the development program, PetrSU has improved its position in the national university ranking. Providing a contribution to technological leadership, we have set ourselves a goal within the framework of our strategic technological projects - to move from individual projects and products to complex products and product lines, platform industry solutions with a focus on high-tech markets,
- said the Rector of PetrSU Anatoly Voronin.
Key achievements
1. Building work with large systemically important companies
In 2024, efforts were focused on digital transformation projects for engineering production for enterprises of the engineering division of Rosatom.
Negotiations were held with the management of the engineering division of Rosatom (Atomenergomash), a plan for joint work on the digital transformation of the corporation's engineering enterprises was developed.
PetrSU organized the North-West Engineering Forum, within the framework of which an agreement was signed on cooperation in the field of introducing artificial intelligence (AI) technologies in mechanical engineering, on the creation of a joint laboratory for industrial AI.
In November 2024, a seminar was held at PetrSU with the participation of IT directors of all Rosatom divisions to discuss issues of creating an industrial AI platform for the corporation's enterprises, where PetrSU demonstrated a pilot version of the AI platform. The university is participating in Rosatom's competition to develop a technical specification for creating a platform and has applied to become one of Rosatom's flagship universities.
Strategic project "End-to-end technologies and digital transformations of basic sectors of the economy"
Creation of a design center for the development and prototyping of microelectronic systems: five prototypes of electronic products, 10 scientific and technological projects were implemented, 55 students were involved. Partners and customers: NRC "Kurchatov Institute" - RISR, FSUE Research Institute "Quantum", JSC "OKB-Planeta".
"Digital platforms and MES systems for optimizing production processes of forest industry enterprises": deep modernization and implementation of three flagship products in demand by enterprises of the pulp and paper industry in Russia and foreign countries: software packages Opti-Paper (paper production), Opti-Loading ("Loading"), Opti-Corrugated (corrugated board production management).
Strategic project "Biotechnology and biomedicine of the future"
Development and implementation of innovative biotechnologies and digital solutions to increase the productivity of aquaculture facilities in the North and the Arctic: a technology for increasing the productivity and increasing the resistance of trout in aquaculture has been developed and implemented; a highly productive broodstock of rainbow trout has been formed, the first generation of fry from breed producers has been obtained; feed additives for therapeutic and prophylactic purposes for production feeds, a new type of adaptogens for cage fish farming have been developed and tested; together with the InBiSist SIE, the FishGrow Platform hardware and software complex is being implemented to automate fish farming enterprises.
“In partnership with PetrSU, the Petrozavodskmash plant received the "silver" level of a digital enterprise at the beginning of 2024 - this is a cumulative indicator of the level of implementation of digital technologies in the enterprise's activities. A lot of work has been done together with PetrSU over the year, and in 2025 the plant applied for the “gold” status. The official results will be in April, but we are confident that the “gold” status will be received by the plant – the first in the mechanical engineering division of Rosatom. A significant result for us is the start of the development of an industrial artificial intelligence and video analytics platform – a unique system that combines various services and allows us to work and develop within the entire division,
- said Dmitry Krokhmalev, Director of the Department for Interaction with Government Agencies and Regions of Mashinostroenie LLC.
We would like to remind you that this year the Priority2030 program has been rebooted, with technological leadership becoming the main vector of its update. In addition, the structure of “Priority” and the decision-making system have changed.
The universities will present a comprehensive development program, including an analysis of the results of the previous period, the university strategy and the main characteristics of its model, a section on the activities of the digital department. It is important that a new section has appeared in the development program – “Strategic Technological Leadership”, in which no more than three projects can be identified. It is not mandatory, for example, for creative universities. Universities can outline ambitions related to the creation of technologies, or focus on achieving the target model.
