Students of the Institute of Foreign Languages Are the Winners of the All-Russian Competition for Translation from French
The competition was held simultaneously in 24 regional centers, including the Francophone Resource Center at the Institute of Foreign Languages of PetrSU.
Within three hours, it was necessary to translate excerpts from three works by modern Francophone writers: Elisa Shua Dusapin, a Franco-Swiss writer, Polina Panasenko, a Russian writer who has lived in Paris since childhood, and Catherine Lovey, a Swiss writer. The participants were allowed to use a bilingual paper dictionary. The level of the French text corresponded to level B2/B2+.
In Petrozavodsk, 2nd and 5th year students studying French as their first or second foreign language took part in the translation competition.
Following the results of the regional stage, the jury consisting of teachers of the Department of German and French Languages N.S. Barymova, S.A. Lukkonen and A.A. Svetlova selected the two best works, which were sent for further evaluation by the All-Russian jury.
As a result, both students - Yana Pashkova (3rd year student of the program "Teacher education with two training profiles "French language and English language") and Ekaterina Dementyeva (5th year student of the program "Teacher education with two training profiles "French language and English language") were among the 20 winners who will participate in a week-long language internship at the Alliance Française in Russia (Perm or Saratov) in the summer of 2025 with the support of the French Institute in Russia.
