KARELIAN SOUVENIR Folk Dance Ensemble
Currently, the Ensemble has two groups: a senior group and a preparatory group for younger undergraduates. Usually, the troupe features from 20 to 40 people. The repertoire of the Karelian Souvenir Ensemble includes the following dances: Karelian, Finnish, Veps, Russian, Ukrainian, Moldavian, Bulgarian, Romanian Lithuanian, Cuban national dances, a Hungarian dance Chardash, comic Slovakian and Czech polkas, a Greek dance sirtaki, comic Tyrolienne, and even rock-and-roll.
Achievements:
- April 2001 – the 2nd International Festival of Students from Northern Countries (Arkhangelsk) – the prize-winners in the nomination Folk-Atelier;
- April 2002 – the Student Spring 2002 Republic-wide Festival (Petrozavodsk) – the prize-winner in the nomination Youth Dance;
- March 2003 – the 1st Genius Charge City Festival of Student Art Group (Petrozavodsk) – the 3rd-degree diploma in the nomination Star Trail;
- April 2003 – the 4th Dancing Youth! Republic-wide Dance Festival (Petrozavodsk);
- November 2003 – the Regional Science and Practice Conference of Students “Student Youth: Interests, Possibilities, Prospects” (Petrozavodsk);
- June 2006 – the 2nd International Festival of Creative Youth and Students (the Crimea, Alupka-Yalta-Partenit) – the prize-winners;
- July 2007 – the Shumbrat, Finno-Ugria! International Festival of Finno-Ugric Ethnic Cultures (Saransk, Mordovia) – the prize-winners;
- January 2008 – the 2nd Planet’s Future International Festival-Contest of Children and Youth Art (Sochi) – the 2nd-degree diplomas;
- June 2009 – the 6th International festival of Creative Youth and Students (the Crimea, Alupka-Yalta-Partenit) – the prize-winners;
- April 2010 – the 4th Genius Charge City Festival of Student Art Group (Petrozavodsk) – the prize-winners;
- July 2010 – the 10th Shores of Hope International Festival-Contest of Children, Youth and Adult Art Groups and Sea, Inspiration, Theater Amateur Theatrical Art Festival (Anapa) – the 3rd-degree diploma;
- January 2011 – the 2nd All-Russian Winter Riviera Festival-Contest of Music and Arts (Sochi) – the 1st-degree diploma;
- January 2012 – the 3rd Winter Tale in the Tatras International Festival-Contest of Children and Youth Creativity (Zakopane, Poland) – the winners in the nomination Choreography - Folk Dance (adults) and the holder of the Grand Prix;
- November 2012 – the prize-winners of the Onega Mix Festival (Petrozavodsk);
- May 2015 – the International Festival of Finno-Ugric Cultures, held in the framework of the Federal Development Program of Student Group Activities supported by the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation (PetrSU, Petrozavodsk).
