Institute of History, Political and Social Sciences

The Institute trains specialists in humanities and social studies and provides an opportunity to study several foreign languages.

At the Department of National History, the students gain fundamental knowledge of humanities and history in the areas of national history, methods and historiography, management and marketing in culture, techniques and legal framework of entrepreneurship in tourism.

The students of the Social Science program study specialized software, do polling, attend lectures read by practicing social scientists, take an active part in the activities of the social laboratory.

The classes regularly feature practicing experts: representatives of public authorities and local government, social institutions, and social laboratory.

The students also attend lectures delivered by teachers of foreign universities within international schools. While studying they also take part in exchange programs FIRST+, ERASMUS+, DAAD, Stipendium Hungaricum (Hungary). In the framework of the Barents Cross-Border University, the students undertake their practical training in Finland.

Besides that, the students undertake archeological, archival and museum practices, as well as practice at government bodies, public, and state organizations, international relations agencies, and mass media.

The graduates can fulfill themselves in a broad range of professions in the areas of teaching and research, international and social projects, consulting. They work at institutions of education, culture, and media, state and municipal government bodies, at academic and research organizations, political and law enforcement agencies.
