Institute of Mathematics and Information Technologies

Institute of Mathematics and Information Technologies trains specialists in the areas of mathematics and computer science, as well as business informatics. Students get vast theoretical and applied knowledge and are able to work both in academic and applied spheres.

Students of the Institute conduct dynamic science and research work and represent Karelia every year at conferences, exhibitions, academic competitions, and championships. PetrSU is the leading international school in the training of programmers.

The Department of Applied Mathematics and Cybernetics has the Programmers’ Club founded and headed by Professor Vladimir Kuznetsov.  The participants of the club, among whom are university and school students, study mathematical modeling, optimization, theories of algorithms and programming, and participate in city and region-wide programming competitions. Select teams of university and school students successfully participate in competitions within the ACM International Collegiate Programming Contest.
