Petrozavodsk State University is among the participants of the international project "Comparative studies of training preparedness and quality of university students training in the BRICS countries”
The aim of the project is to assess the level of 1st year technical students’ preparedness for initial training, as well as the level of training in the 3rd year - at the end of a certain stage of learning. This project is the first in Russia and other BRICS countries to evaluate the quality of engineering education and the factors that determine it. The research is conducted by the center of education quality monitoring of the Institute of Education of the Higher School of Economics in collaboration with Chinese partners, supported by the Russian Ministry of Education and Science.
As part of this research, from 17 to 20 November, students of the Faculty of Physics and Technology and the Faculty of Mathematics and Information Technologies of Petrozavodsk State University did computer testing in the reading hall of the Academic Library. Students of the 1st and 3rd years were tested in mathematics, physics, computer science, and critical thinking. The study also involved about 30 teachers responsible for physics and mathematics-related subjects, who responded to a questionnaire.
The organizers of the project will present the results in an evaluation report allowing one to compare the quality of engineering education provided by Petrozavodsk State University with that of other universities, both Russian and foreign.
