The Participants of the Summer School of PetrSU Try to Unravel the Mystery of the Ancient Seita Stones
Students and employees of PetrSU went to the Muyezersky District to take part in the Summer School “Vottovaara: the Mystery of the Ancient Seita Stones”, held by the Student Business Incubator.
On top of Mount Vottovaara, a part of the Western Karelian hill chain, there is one of the biggest collections of historical and cultural sites – seita stones. According to researchers, these stone constructions were used in religious rites of ancient Sami.
At the Summer School, the participants will learn the history of Vottovaara, immerse in Sami culture and take in the view of Karelian nature from the highest point of the Western Karelian hill chain.
The participants of the school also have an ecological mission, as they will collect the waste on the territory of the historical and cultural site.
