Woodsnag Technology of Wood Fuel Packaging, Efficient Storage and Transporting
The Woodsnag project is developed by the Department of Technology and Management of Forest Industry Complex of PetrSU (research director – Oleg Galaktionov).
The technology and equipment are designed for the collection, compression, and packaging of discrete materials in logging, woodworking, and agricultural industries. The advantages of the technology are the use of waste of various origins, continuous process, efficient storage of wood fuel avoiding self-heating, opportunity to use general transportation means.
The equipment for compression and packaging is developed based on a strew press, which allows using packages of various lengths. As the load is compressed in a package it does not decompress and holds shape in storage and handling due to internal stress. The use of a pullback mechanism provides prepressing where it is necessary to use vacuum packing.
The resulting WoodSnag packages can be used as safety barriers. The packages can improve the environmental situation if used to control erosion in refuse piles, cinder dumps, unfixed sand.
This technology provides a solution for industrial waste discharge near wood processing enterprises, maintenance of a comfortable environment in settlements, and a stable supply of wood fuel to the electric generating system.
