PetrSU Took Part in a Meeting of the Council of the Association of Finno-Ugric Universities
On April 16, a meeting of the Council of the Association of Finno-Ugric Universities of Russia was held at Mari State University. Petrozavodsk State University was represented by O.G. Abramova, Director of the Institute of Philology and the university's coordinator for interaction within the association.
The meeting agenda included a discussion of the AFUU activity report for 2025, a joint work plan for member universities for 2026, and the implementation of network educational programs.
Interaction between universities participating in the Association of Finno-Ugric Universities of Russia has been ongoing since March 2025 under a memorandum signed by all parties, which is valid until 2027. The memorandum outlines strategic guidelines aimed at sustainable regional development, improving the quality of education, and strengthening the cultural identity of the Finno-Ugric peoples. Universities' interaction within the association is focused on three key areas: scientific and technological, educational, and outreach.
The three-year cooperation program places particular emphasis on the digitalization of the languages of the peoples of Russia and the development and implementation of innovative solutions aimed at the comprehensive study of the languages and cultures of the Finno-Ugric peoples. For example, the Atlas of Finno-Ugric Peoples, created on the AFUU website, is becoming a starting point not only for educational work but also for comparative research.
“Petrozavodsk State University makes a significant contribution to the effectiveness of the scientific and technological cooperation track by ensuring the publication of research materials. This was reflected in the presentation accompanying the report by V.I. Toktarova, Vice-Rector for Strategic Development at Mari University. Cooperation within the association is of great importance to us, especially in addressing issues relevant to all Finno-Ugric republics,
- commented O.G. Abramova.
