Round Table: "The Strength of Our Motherland Lies in the Unity of the Peoples of Russia!"
On April 17, a roundtable discussion was held in the Assembly Hall of Petrozavodsk State University. The discussion focused on the cultural diversity of Russia's peoples, using the example of public organizations in the Republic of Karelia working to strengthen interethnic harmony. The event was organized by the Department of Foreign History of Petrozavodsk State University and the Islamic Cultural Center of the Muslim Spiritual Directorate of the Republic of Karelia.
Abdukodir Isoevich Abdukodirov, the officer of the Russian National Guard Directorate for the Republic of Karelia, addressed the participants with a welcoming speech.
Father Leonid, rector of the Orthodox parish of the Sretensky Church in Petrozavodsk, and Mufti Abdul-Aziz of the Republic of Karelia signed an agreement on spiritual support for the morale of the SVO participants.
A presentation by Sofia Sergeevna Nikitina, a research fellow at the National Museum of the Republic of Karelia and a graduate of the Department of Foreign History, focused on the cultural history of the Finno-Ugric peoples of the Republic of Karelia, using the national costumes of Belomorsk and Olonetsk Karelia as an example, vividly demonstrated by first-year students of the "History of Northern European Countries" program.
Natalia Vladimirovna Smirnova, Head of the Department of Foreign History, and Olesya Stanislavovna Grossman, a representative of the Islamic Cultural Center of Petrozavodsk, spoke about their collaboration and the joint project "Living Together, Remaining Different," which includes educational events for history students on the topic of "Traditions of Islamic Countries." The presentation was complemented by a festival of national costumes of Ummah girls, in which students of the Institute of History, Political and Social Studies also participated.
Athletes from the Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) Club of the Republic of Karelia, under the guidance of coach Khalilzade Khalil Aligulu oglu, performed exhibition routines.
Video presentations and videos about youth education by veterans of the "Brotherhood of the Red Berets - Vityaz" Association, Alexander Mikhailovich Beloglazov and Yuri Gennadievich Zhirokhov, demonstrated the importance of intercultural dialogue, because by understanding and respecting each other, we unite in difficult times and stand together in defense of our homeland!
The roundtable concluded with a screening of a documentary about the liberation of the Sukhumi hostages in August 1990. Sergei Aleksandrovich Dyatko (Abdul-Aziz), Chairman of the Veterans' Association of the "Brotherhood of the Red Berets - Vityaz" for the Republic of Karelia, actively participated in this operation.
Representatives of Petrozavodsk public organizations, students from PetrSU, and students from secondary schools and technical colleges participated in the event.
A combined brass band of students from the Petrozavodsk State Conservatory named after A.K. Glazunov and students of the orchestral school for wind and percussion instruments at the Petrovsky Palace Education and Creativity Center will perform the program "Music for All Seasons." Artistic Director and Conductor: Honored Worker of Culture of the Republic of Karelia Sergei Yaroslavovich Zhurbenko.
