The Friendship of Nations Festival at PetrSU
More than 600 people from different countries attended the Friendship of Nations Festival at PetrSU.
At the fair, young people explored each other's cultural traditions, and at the concert, they performed songs and dances from their countries.
The Friendship of Nations Festival was held in Petrozavodsk. At the fair, representatives from around the world presented their cultures and shared their impressions of life and study at PetrSU.
For example, fifth-year PetrSU student and future therapist Mummadi Ragupathi Tharun Kumar said:
“We have an international friendship club, which includes international students studying in Karelia. Thanks to it, the students become involved in university life, socialize, improve their Russian, and learn about their rights and the opportunities the university offers them.
After the fair, the participants showed musical performances in their native languages and traditional dances.
“I prepared a song in my native Malay. For me, performing is an experience," said Muhammad Faiz from Brunei. Before entering a Russian university, he studied the language for almost a year.
“The culture of the peoples of Russia occupied a special place at the festival. The Buta Dance group was the first to introduce foreign guests to it, performing dances from the Caucasian peoples. As surprising as it may sound, even native culture can be discovered in a new way,
- noted Alexey Butenko, Head of the Republic's Department of Youth Policy.
“The Friendship Club organized the festival not only for PetrSU students; all young people from around the world living in Karelia were invited. This event is held annually,
- noted Vitaly Antipin, leader of the International Friendship Club of Karelia.
Students from more than 40 countries study at Petrozavodsk University.
Nikita Korolev, organizer of the festival:
“We organized the festival to unite all the peoples here in one place. To show that Karelia is truly a friendly land, ready to welcome people even in the cold, and always open to everyone. And our people are very kind: they are ready, so to speak, to feed, and give drink, and shelter.
