Educational Strategies in Youth Distance Learning
Students and teachers of PetrSU continue to learn methods of teaching foreign language online.
Institute of Foreign Languages through the Resource Center of the Goethe-Institut hosted an educational seminar devoted to "Educational Strategies in Youth Distance Learning" ("Lernstrategien im Online-Unterricht für Jugendliche") in a blended mode. The Resource Center was established under a bilateral agreement on cooperation with Petrozavodsk State University.
The seminar was held via Zoom by Irina Agranovskaya, a specialist of the Goethe-Institut (Moscow).
During the educational seminar, which convened both university teaching staff and 4th year students of the Institute of Foreign Languages studying in Bachelor’s degree program "Teacher Education. English and German Languages", the participants learned about creation of atmosphere facilitating the embracing of training material in foreign language classes and what exercises and communication tasks were appropriate for that.
In addition, during the discussion, the participants of the seminar discussed what role the teacher personality played in teaching young people and what motivation tools were appropriate for students with a short attention span.
This experience will prove especially beneficial to 4th year students learning methods of teaching German as foreign language since they will have teaching practice in September 2021. Since the concluding seminar in 2021-2021 was held in a blended mode, when specialist and teachers worked via Zoom and students stayed in lecture hall, future teachers had the opportunity to understand how the proposed strategies can be applied online and offline.
