PetrSU as Part of the Russian Federation Delegation on a Business Trip to China
The Chinese Ambassador's Prize in the Russian Federation was established in 2020. It is awarded to Russian scientists who have achieved significant results in their professional activities.
In 2025, the Chinese Ambassador's Prize was held in three areas: aerospace information, artificial intelligence, biomedicine. 152 applications were received for the prize from more than 100 scientific, technical, educational and medical organizations of the Russian Federation. As a result of the selection, 24 scientists and engineers became laureates, including PetrSU employee Alexey Valerievich Kabonen (Aerospace Information), Director of the Center for Digital Monitoring of Northern and Arctic Ecosystems, PhD in Agricultural Sciences.
The awarding of the 2025 Prize laureates took place on May 30 in Moscow at the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in the Russian Federation in honor of the National Day of Scientific and Technical Workers of the PRC. The presentation of the Prize awards was conducted by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the PRC to the Russian Federation Zhang Hanhui, Aide to the President of the Russian Federation Andrei Aleksandrovich Fursenko and State Counselor of the Russian Federation, 1st class, First Secretary of the Russian Union of Scientific and Engineering Public Associations (RosSNIO) Sergei Petrovich Drukarenko with invited experts and leading scientists of Russia.
After the award ceremony, with the financial support of the Chinese Embassy in the Russian Federation, the laureates went to China to visit research institutions, universities and industrial enterprises to get acquainted with the best practices of Chinese colleagues and present the results of their scientific activities.
The main part of the trip took place in Anhui Province of China (Hefei and Wuhu). The laureates visited the largest innovative companies in China: Zero Aircraft Industry (a manufacturer of unmanned aircraft systems, UAS), AIRSAT (a manufacturer of satellite systems and a developer of software for processing Earth remote sensing data, ERS), iFlytek (research and development in the field of AI), Chery (a car manufacturer), as well as scientific and educational institutes of the PRC: the Research Institute of Optoelectronic Technology, the Hefei Institute of Physical Sciences under the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the Research Institute of Physics and Information Technology of Anhui University, Anhui Polytechnic University, etc.
To present the results of his scientific work, A.V. Kabonen gave a report "Using UAV aerial photography and LiDAR laser scanning for monitoring Arctic territories". Interest in joint research within the framework of international competitions of the Russian and Chinese Science Foundations (RSF, KNF), projects and scientific publications was expressed by the Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Natural Resources and Environmental Engineering of the Chinese University of Calgary Hu Hung and the Deputy Director of the Department of Geographic Information Science of the University of Lavelle Wang Chen, specializing in the use of GIS, laser scanning and aerial photography in environmental research.
During the laureates' trip, PetrSU managed to establish interaction with Russian scientific, industrial and educational organizations: JSC Rocket and Space Center Progress (RosCosmos State Corporation), St. Petersburg State University of Aerospace Instrumentation, PTC Aerodinamika of JSC Tupolev, Moscow Aviation Institute, V.A. Trapeznikov Institute of Control Sciences of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Skoltech Artificial Intelligence Center, Ufa University of Science and Technology, Altai State Technical University, etc.
