PetrSU and Fujian Agriculture and Forestry University Signed the Memorandum of Understanding
The document was signed at the official meeting of the Rector of PetrSU Anatoly Voronin and the President of FAFU Professor Lan Siren. Among the participants of the meeting were the Dean of the College of Animal Science Professor Chen Jilong, the Dean of the College of Material Engineering Professor Chen Lihui, the Dean of the College of Crop Science Professor Zeng Rensen, the Acting Deputy Director of the International Cooperation and Exchange Office Chen Youyang, and the Program Coordinator of the International Cooperation and Exchange Office Chen Yao.
PetrSU was represented by the Vice-Rector for Scientific Research Vladimir Siunev, the Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs Konstantin Tarasov, the Director of the Institute of Biology, Ecology and Agricultural Technologies Nikita Onishchenko, the Director of the Institute of Forestry, Mining and Construction Sciences Vadim Kostiukevich, the Head of the Protocol Division Ekaterina Ivanova.
The delegation was also welcomed by the Head of the Republic of Karelia Artur Parfenchikov, who expressed his hope that all the plans will be translated into action. “For us, the research is an essential part of cooperation. We consider your visit and the signing of the Memorandum to be the starting point for implementation of our agreements,” said Artur Parfenchikov.
Afterward, the heads of the educational institutions held an informal meeting, told about their respective universities and outlined areas for cooperation. For instance, one of the potential fields for cooperation will be student exchange and participation in international schools. The guests from China took an interest in the offer to publish scientific papers in the interdisciplinary peer-reviewed journal of the IFMCS Resources and Technology.
The Rector of PetrSU summed up the preliminary results of the visit: “We are still laying out the program for cooperation. We discussed projects that can be commercialized. Later, when we learn more about the mutual areas of interest we will discuss specific projects that we will implement in Karelia and Fujian Province. Perhaps, those will be projects in the area of fish farming, as we have expertise in this field. Moreover, under the Memorandum we plan to exchange students, teachers, and employees.
”During their visit to PetrSU, the Chinese guests saw the Institute of High Biomedical Technologies of PetrSU, the Museum of History of PetrSU, the Youth Innopark, the co-working center the Boiling Point – Petrozavodsk, the IT-Park of PetrSU, and the Botanical Garden.
The visit took place under the Flagship University Development Program and the Twin-region relations between the Republic of Karelia and Fujian Province.
