Northern Sled Dogs Under the Control of the Department of Zootechnics
The students of the Zootechnics program carried out a clinical examination of the northern sled dogs at the Skify Tur kennel and discussed the results at roundtable conference.
On June 15, the 2nd and 3rd year students under the guidance of the Associate Professor of the Department Valeria Sirotinina and cynologist Irina Krasilnikova examined the dogs. The event took place under the cooperation agreement between the Department of Zootechnics, Fish Farming, Agronomy and Land Management and the northern sled dogs kennel Skify Tur.
After the clinical examination, the workgroup of specialists and students gathered at the roundtable to discuss the results. The employees of the kennel picked out several ailing dogs, and the members of the discussion offered their recommendations for their examination and treatment. The group outlined further cooperation, namely in the area of dog feeding, as it is essential to arrange right feeding for the northern sled dogs in the times of intense physical exercise.
The Deputy Director of the Skify Tur Yulia Simonova noted the importance of such events and thanked for the help offered by the students and teachers of the Department. “These events strengthen relations with employers and develop skills in students.”
“Currently two 2nd year students of the Zootechnics program undertake practical training at the Skify Tur,” said Valeria Sirotinina.
