PetrSU Students Won the Russian Contest in Obstetrics and Gynecology
Pirogov Russian National Research Medical University hosted the finals of the 3rd Russian contest (with international participation) in obstetrics and gynecology n.a. Leonid Persianinov.
Thirty-seven teams from Russia, Kazakhstan, Belorussia, and Ukraine competed for the victory. The Cutting edges team of the Institute of Medicine of Petrozavodsk State University consisted of the 5th and the 6th year students Elena Adieva, Svetlana Rikhter, and Nikita Morozkin.
The contestants had to show their skills in four practical exercises: “Labor Management on Robot Mannequin”, “Endovideosurgery”, “Hystero-Resectoscopy”, “Sutures at Caesarean Section”.
In the contest “Labor Management on Robot Mannequin” Elizaveta Ilina and Nikita Morozkin successfully accomplished the task by correctly assessing the state of a virtual “patient” and rendering needed help.
In the contests “Endovideosurgery”, “Hystero-Resectoscopy”, “Sutures at Caesarean Section” the Institute of Medicine of PetrSU was represented by Elena Adieva and Svetlana Rikhter.
Distinguished jury highly praised the results of Elena and Svetlana. The team of the Institute of Medicine was pronounced the winner of the contest and awarded the first-degree diploma.
“Exercises featured in the contest correspond to the degree of training of resident physicians and OB/GYN doctors, so we diligently trained for the practical exercises at the United Multifunctional Center for Module Education of the Institute of Medicine of PetrSU. We thank the organizers of the event for the chance to show our skills,” said PetrSU students.
According to the Director of the Institute of Medicine of PetrSU Aleksandr Balashov success at the contest was possible due to determination, diligence and studiousness of the team members in learning and mastering special medical skills, as well as professional expertise and integrity of the academic adviser of the team and organizer of the participation the Associate Professor of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Dermatovenerology Aleksandr Ivshin.
