International Meeting in the Institute of Medicine of PetrSU
On May 21 the Institute of Medicine of PetrSU together with representatives of the Academic Mobility Department of PetrSU welcomed a group of nursing students from Kajaani University of Applied Sciences.
The aim of the educational tour to the Institute of Medicine of PetrSU was the introduction of international practices and exchange of experience, innovative methods of care for pregnant women, parturient women, newborn infants, and people with health limitations.
The employees of the Institute of Medicine and medic volunteers showed the students from Finland how future doctors are taught. The Director of the Medical Department of the Scientific Library of PetrSU Liubov Mezentseva showed where students prepare for exams and study required literature.
The Deputy Director Marina Shubina and the head of the United Multifunctional Center for Module Education Igor Shubin led a tour around the Accreditation and Simulation Center and the UMCME. The representatives of Finland took an interest in the procedure of accreditation of specialists and the principles of education quality control during the State Final Examination.
The representatives of the Institute of Medicine held workshops for the Finnish students. A workshop on patient care was held by Nadezhda Matveeva with the help of medical volunteers. Nadezhda Matveeva, the Head of the Patient Care Department of the Emergency Care Hospital, an employee of the UMCME and the Department of Propaedeutics of Internal Diseases and Hygiene of the Institute of Medicine, told the guests about standards of various procedures, organization of care for seriously ill patients at medical institutions of the Republic of Karelia.
The Associate Professor of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Dermatovenerology Aleksandr Ivshin and the Head of the Department of Pediatrics and Pediatric Surgery Yulia Zaripova held a workshop and joint training session on medical emergencies in obstetrics and neonatology. Interactive participation of the students from Finland in delivery and newborn care became the highlight of the educational tour.
At the end of the tour, the students of Kajaani University of Applied Sciences and their leaders discussed possible cooperation in forming an interdisciplinary international system of care for seriously ill patients, mastering patient care skills. At the meeting with the Director of the Institute of Medicine Aleksandr Balashov, the guests thanked for the tour and noted the relevance of topics discussed. The parties proposed considering cooperation in academic mobility of medical students.
