PetrSU at Russian-Finnish Seminar
The tradition of Russian-Finnish seminars of historians was established in the 1960s. The latest, 21st, seminar was held in autumn 2017 in Petrozavodsk.
At the initiative of the Embassy of Finland and the Institute of Russian History of the RAS within the 7th international research and practice school conference of young scientists of the IRH of the RAS Moscow hosted the Russian-Finnish seminar of young historians that convened aspiring researchers from Moscow, Saint Petersburg, Petrozavodsk, Krasnoyarsk, Helsinki, Jyvaskyla, Tampere.
The event was dedicated to various aspects of the history of the Russian-Finnish relations in the 18th – 21st centuries and provided young scientists with a platform to present their findings and share experience of archive work and research techniques. Among the participants of the seminar was the 1st year Master Degree student of the program “History of the Countries of Northern Europe (history, languages, culture of Finland and Sweden)” Igor Liman who presented his report “’Isoviha’ in the historical memory of Finland”. The participants of the seminar took part in the reception at the Embassy of Finland and went on a tour to the Russian State Archive of Social and Political History and the International Memorial.
