PetrSU Students at the Lake Ice and Waterbodies’ Ecosystem Studies Seminar
Geography students and teachers of the Department of Earth Sciences and Geotechnologies of the Institute of Forestry, Mining and Construction Sciences of PetrSU, Flagship University of the Republic of Karelia, took part in the international scientific seminar Lake ice and waterbodies’ ecosystem studies organized by the Northern Water Problems of the Karelian Research Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
The seminar convened scientists from the University of Helsinki, Russian State Hydrometeorological University, Surgut State University, and Moscow State University of Water Problems of the RAS.
At the event, the students took part in the discussion of current issues of water resources and comprehensive studies of lake ice.
The scientists from Finland and Russia read lectures Leppärantä Matti (Finland) “Lake’s ice investigations”, Aleksandr Litvinenko “Hydrographic network of Karelia and its characteristics”, Mikhail Zobkov “Plastic and microplastic in hydrosphere objects”, in which they covered results of several studies in water bodies of different regions of the world.
The seminar was organized by the Northern Water Problems of the Karelian Research Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
