Round Table on "Russia and Finland: Pages of Common History" was Held in Boris Yeltsin Presidential Library
The round table program consisted of two thematic blocks: «Studying the history of Finland. The Grand Duchy of Finland» and «The Finnish Civil War, the Soviet-Finnish War (1939-1940), relations between Finland and the USSR after World War II».
The geography representation of the round table was diverse: from Helsinki to Novosibirsk. Finland's new Ambassador to Russia Antti Helantera, Counselor of the Embassy Taneli Dobrowolski, Director of the Finnish Institute in St. Petersburg Sani Kontula-Webb joined the round table discussions.
The round table program included reports of associate professors of the Department of World History, Political Science and International Relations of PetrSU Irina Takala, the Head of the Interdisciplinary Scientific and Educational Center FENNICA («On studying the history of Finland in modern Russia») and Ilya Solomeshch, the Head of the Laboratory on the Problems of the Scandinavian Countries and Finland («Imperial center and «Finnish outskirts»: a crisis of governance, World War and preconditions for Finland's independence»).
The organizers are planning to publish the reports.
