"Russia, Finland, Karelia: Chapter of Common History and Culture"
Public scientific and educational seminar "Russia, Finland, Karelia: chapter of common history and culture" was held on 3-5 December.
During a three-day online seminar, Russian and Finnish researchers highlighted the key milestones in the common history of Russia and Finland, talked about the cultural relationship and the experience of neighboring people interaction since 15th century till present.
The seminar convened researchers, specialists and everyone who was interested in the history and culture of the region.
Historians, philologists and economists lectured and reported online.
The speakers presented both general characteristics of the centuries-old history, and specific stories that have had a significant historical, socio-political and cultural impact on the relationship between Russia and Finland and on the border areas destiny.
The seminar is a part of a large Russian-Finnish umbrella project "There are many different Karelia/ On monta eri Karjalaa".
The project is aimed at spread and promotion of scientific knowledge about the most significant stages and turning points that shape the modern image of the region. As amain result, it should help build trust and confidence between the peoples of Russia and Finland through the establishment of sustainable channels for the spread of scientific knowledge.
