Skill Upgrading Program for Forestry Specialists
PetrSU teachers took part in the skill upgrading program “Tending of Young Forest” for forestry specialists.
The course was organized within the project Boosting Forest Cluster SME Business in two Karelias of the ENI Karelia CBC Program.
In September, the BOFORI project organized a training course “Tending of Young Forest” in the Suoyarvsky District of the Republic of Karelia at the premises of one of the largest harvesting enterprises of Karelia, AO Zapkarelles. The instructors of the course were the employees of the Institute of Forest of the Karelian Research Center of the RAS, teachers of Petrozavodsk State University, and employees of OOO Lesnaya Territoriya.
The program featured issues of tending of forest, various tending methods and their efficiency, regulatory framework for tending felling and other related problems. Moreover, the attendants of the course had an opportunity to take part in practical classes in tending felling, train their skills of working with angle gauge and selecting trees for felling. Practical training was held at the field plots of AO Zapkarelles.
Among the attendants of the course were representatives of organizations rendering services of forest tending in the Suoyarvsky District of Karelia. By the results of the training, the participants were awarded certificates of the completion of the skill upgrading programs, as well as study materials developed during the implementation of the educational program.
