PetrSU at an International Colloquium of Genealogy in Messina, Italy
The Italian city of Messina on the Sicily hosted the 12th colloquium organized by the International Academy for Genealogy (IAG) under the auspices of the regional authorities of Sicily, administration of Messina, and the local university in cooperation with the Italian Genealogical and Heraldic Institute, Federation of Italian Genealogical Associations, International Federation of Family History Societies, Messina’s Teatro Vittorio Emanuele II (the premises of the scientific meetings).
The topic of the colloquium was “Pandemics, wars, catastrophes in genealogy and family histories” / XII International Colloquium of Genealogy, Pandémies, guerres et catastrophes en généalogie et dans l’histoire des familles.
The principal organizer of the colloquium was the President of the International Confederation for Genealogy and Heraldry Pier Felice degli Uberti, who opened the event. Welcoming words were also offered by the Bishop of Messina Cesare Di Pietro, the President of the IAG Michel Teillard d'Eyry, the director of Teatro Vittorio Emanuele II Orazio Miloro, representatives of the state authorities.
The Russian delegation consisted of Igor Sakharov (Saint Petersburg) and Olga Kulakovskaya (Petrozavodsk).
The employee of PetrSU, Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, Associate Professor of the Institute of History, Political and Social Sciences of PetrSU Olga Kulakovskaya, the Head of the Center for Genealogy and Family History of PetrSU, President of the Genealogical Society of Karelia, member of the Council of the Russian Genealogical Federation (Moscow), corresponding member of the International Academy for Genealogy (Paris). She presented the report “Russian revolution of 1917 and civil war of 1918-1922 and their tragic consequences for genealogy.”
In three days of the colloquium, the participants have presented 33 scientific reports (some of them – online).
