In Vienna, within the framework of Consideratio Irina Chepurina, a senior teacher of the Department of German Philology and Scandinavian Studies, delivered a lecture "Karelia: Russia's Soul Under Northern Lights".
A part of Irina's lecture was devoted to the history of the founding of Petrozavodsk, the cultural wealth of Karelia and the charm of northern nature. Important historical milestones in the Republic’s formation were considered in the lecture in conjunction with the literature and musical art of Karelia. The uniqueness of the Kizhi Pogost and the Valaam Monastery received special attention. Irina's lecture was also supported by a series of videos made by the students of the Institute of Philology, who participated in the competition "Invitation to Karelia: A Videoguide to Its Life", organized in May 2021 by Irina herself.
The lecture was attended by representatives of Austrian as well as Russian cultural and scientific communities. The guests showed keen interest in the lecture and asked many questions.
“I would like to express my sincere gratitude to Irina Chepurina for her lecture on Karelia within the frameworks of my society Consideratio in Vienna. The lecture, which included a presentation and video materials, captured the guests' attention due to a description of the most important cultural and natural sights of Karelia. She aroused great interest and desire among the guests to visit the Republic in the nearest future,”
