PetrSU Is Developing Cooperation with Uzbekistan in the Field of Tourism and Guide Training
The program of the forum featured an international scientific and practical conference “Excursion Activities: a Symbiosis of Education, Science and Practice”, among the participants of which was Viktoria Plotnikova, Associate Professor of the Department of Tourism of PetrSU.
The report was prepared jointly with the Head of the Department of Tourism Natalia Kolesnikova and recorded in the Jalinga studio with the technical and organizational support of the Head of the Department of International Programs of PetrSU Alexey Rogozin.
The report presented the main directions of excursion routes in Karelia and trends in the field of excursions that are developing in our region.
Over the past 2 years, the Directorate for International Affairs and colleagues from the Institute of Physical Education, Sport and Tourism have been actively developing cooperation with the Research Institute for the Study of Problems of Cultural Heritage Objects and Tourism Development of the Republic of Uzbekistan. Two years ago, Uzbek colleagues took part in the events of the All-Russian forum “Quality of Life: Modern Challenges and Development Vectors.”
In October 2022, the Director of the Research Institute for the Study of Problems of Cultural Heritage Objects and Tourism Development of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Elena Golysheva, visited Karelia, went on a tour around the picturesque locations of Zaonezhie, and met with PetrSU scientists and heads of tourism companies in the region.
In 2023, a joint project was prepared to develop Arctic tourism as a tool of public diplomacy, which is currently undergoing expert evaluation by the Gorchakov Foundation.
Viktoria Plotnikova’s report at the conference in Uzbekistan aroused great interest and marked the beginning of cooperation in the training of guides and the development of excursion activities in the two countries. Already at the beginning of March 2024, the first events will be held with the participation of specialists from PetrSU and Uzbekistan.
