PetrSU Took Part in the Geological International Student Summit (GISS) Conference
The conference was held from April 4 to 8 at the Institute of Geosciences of St. Petersburg State University. The conference included 7 sections: “Stratigraphy, tectonics, regional and historical geology”; "Oil and gas geology and lithology"; "Geology and genesis of ore deposits"; "Genetic and structural mineralogy"; "Petrology, geochemistry and geochronology"; "Geoecology, engineering geology and hydrogeology"; "Geophysics and geophysical research methods." Each section included a series of plenary reports presented by leading experts in the field of geosciences, and reports by young scientists. In addition, the conference program included workshops. In total, more than 60 reports were presented by young researchers during the conference.
Sergey Vasiliev, within the section “Petrology, Geochemistry and Geochronology”, successfully presented a report on “Internal structure and geochemistry of zircon from mangerite-like rocks, Salma batholith (Karelia)” and was awarded the 3rd degree diploma.
Anna Fateeva presented a poster presentation from a group of authors (A.A. Fateeva, K.G. Erofeeva, A.V. Stepanova), dedicated to the study of the morphology and internal structure of zircon in terrigenous rocks of the Jatulium Segozero structure, carried out within the framework of the Russian Science Foundation project - 23- 17-00260.
The organizers of the conference note the high level of reports presented by PetrSU students and the relevance of their research.
