PetrSU Presented a Humanoid Robot Project at the 7th Forestry Forum

The focus was on issues of forest restoration work, combating the consequences of forest fires, as well as current challenges associated with climate change and active development of northern territories.

The scientific event became one of the largest in recent times, bringing together leading experts in the forestry industry from various regions of Russia and abroad.

PetrSU was represented at the forum by Grigory Einovich Rego, Associate Professor of the Department of Applied Mathematics and Cybernetics of the Institute of Mathematics and Information Technologies. He gave a report "Prospects for the Use of Humanoid Robots in the Forestry Industry". During the report, it was noted that modern forestry enterprises in Russia are facing an acute shortage of personnel. Humanoid robots, capable of moving across difficult terrain, as well as manipulating tools, seem to be a promising solution for performing dangerous operations in hard-to-reach areas.

Forum participants noted that such pilot projects will provide significant support in the development of domestic technologies for robotization of the forestry sector and will help improve the efficiency of the forestry complex of the Russian Federation.
