The Fourth Fortunatov Readings in Karelia

On June 5 2025, Petrozavodsk State University hosted the international scientific conference "Fortunatov Readings in Karelia".

The conference is held at the Russian Language Department of PetrSU annually and is dedicated to discussing the linguistic heritage of Filipp Fedorovich Fortunatov and other famous Slavists of Russia and Europe, and many current issues in modern linguistics.

The 2025 conference was dedicated to the 50th anniversary of the scientific and pedagogical school of the Russian Language Department "Russian Language in Its Development and Functioning", which opened in 1975 at Petrozavodsk University under the leadership of Doctor of Philological Sciences, Professor Zamir Kurbanovich Tarlanov, one of the participants of the current forum.

Leading researchers from the Institute of Linguistics, the Institute of Oriental Studies, the Vinogradov Russian Language Institute (Moscow), the Institute of Linguistic Research (St. Petersburg) of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Lomonosov Moscow State University, St. Petersburg State University, the Russian State University for the Humanities, the Herzen Russian State Pedagogical University and other Russian universities, as well as academic and educational institutions from near and far abroad, became members of the program and organizational committees.

Scientists, university professors and postgraduate students from 12 Eurasian countries will speak at the plenary and 8 sectional sessions: Russia, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Hungary, Spain, Italy, Kazakhstan, China, Moldova, Serbia and Japan.
