Indian Students Master the Art of Sambo Wrestling Techniques
This event united the cultures of different nations through sports.
The seminar was held by a star team of Karelian coaches, whose names are widely known outside of Russia: Roman Ilyich Shegelman - Honored Coach of the Republic of Karelia, Master of Sports in Sambo; Maxim Leonidovich Antipov - Champion of Russia in Sport and Combat Sambo, World Champion in Combat Sambo, Winner of the World Cup in Sambo, Honored Master of Sports in Sambo; Arman Vagramovich Bagdasaryan - Bronze medalist of the Russian Sambo Championship, 3-time Champion of Russia in Sambo among students, Master of Sports of Russia in Sambo.
Under the guidance of the coaches, the Indian students mastered the basic techniques of Sambo, having studied the key principles of this sport - discipline and respect for the opponent.
Organizational support for the event was provided by: Associate Professor, Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences Olga Mikhailovna Sherekhova (Zilber Medical Institute), Senior Lecturers of the Department of Physical Education Lyudmila Valeryevna Egorova, Valery Aleksandrovich Romanyuk and Sergey Vladimirovich Kornev. Clear interaction between the coaches and participants was ensured by the interpreter Alexey Zaglubotsky, a student of the Institute of Foreign Languages.
The event demonstrated the successful experience of integrating international students into the extracurricular activities of the university and became another step in getting to know the university and Karelia through sports and physical education.
