Where Do Our Students Come From?

12 February 2026
Petrozavodsk State University attracts students not only from Russia but also from other countries.

We previously reported on the regions of Russia from which our students come. But PetrSU represents more than just the entire country—it represents the entire world!

Currently, the university has 857 international students from 42 countries, including:

Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, Angola, Belarus, Benin, Brunei Darussalam, Venezuela, Gabon, Haiti, Ghana, Egypt, India, Indonesia, Jordan, Yemen, Kazakhstan, Cameroon, China, Colombia, Congo, Côte d'Ivoire, Cuba, Morocco, Mexico, Mozambique, Mali, Namibia, Nepal, Nigeria, Palestine, Peru, Syria, USA, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Finland, Sri Lanka, Ecuador, and Equatorial Guinea.

We've prepared a map showing the five countries that send the most students to the University: India, Jordan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, and Kazakhstan.

Every international student brings with them not only a desire to get an education but also a piece of their culture, traditions, and language. This makes the university truly international, giving us the opportunity to discover our differences and discover what unites us.

Now's the perfect time to brush up on your geography and find all these countries on the map!
