PetrSU Students at Carnival Procession
Petrozavodsk held the international winter festival Hyperborea that opened with the carnival procession “100 Symbols of Karelia” dedicated to the centenary of the Republic.
Over two thousand people took part in the procession: representatives of educational institutions of the Karelian capital and the regions of the Republic. Among those who joined the carnival were students of Petrozavodsk State University.
The representatives of the Flagship University of Karelia donned original costumes following the theme of the event: Karelian birch and clapper boards with the names of the movies shot in Karelia, such as Love and Pigeons, Island, The Dawns Here Are Quiet, Trees Grow on the Stones Too, The Cold Summer of 1953, Piranha, etc.
Aleksandr Chernyshev, the Chairperson of the Students Union of PetrSU and students of the Institute of Biology, Ecology and Agricultural Technologies have taken part in the carnival for the sixth time.
“Each year we tap into our creativity to design costumes. It is yet another chance to express yourself and engage with your creative side. During the procession, like all other participants, I enjoyed the cheers and good spirits,” shared Aleksandr.
The spectacular procession followed the central streets of the city: Kirov Square – Prospect Karla Marksa – Lenin Square – Ulitsa Fridrikha Engelsa – Prospect Lenina – the Embankment of Lake Onego.
